THoughts on Death - Project proposal
Thoughts on Death is a project that looks at attitudes towards death in the UK. The aim of the project is to work with professionals in the field of palliative care and a small group of participants to explore the subject of death through a series of conversations and art making. The outcome will be a small exhibition that could include interviews, found photography, new photography, drawings, pieces of video and found sound. An important part of the project is to create a space that allows an open discussion on the subject of death. Through these discussions participants will be asked to contribute art pieces and to the form of a final exhibition.
Between 2017 - 2019 I began carrying out street interviews in North-west England around the subject of death. The aim was to reach a wide variety of opinions across demographics capturing people’s thoughts on death. The process was to approach the subject as openly as possible, allowing interviewees to talk freely about what they thought about death. The result were an intimate insight into the different and unique ways people think about this often under-discussed subject.
